Year 3/4 In Years 3 and 4 children are building on their knowledge from KS1 and are developing a range of vocabulary, becoming more independent, fluent in their reading, more confident in speaking aloud and answering questions. Grammar is becoming embedded daily in their writing and they are constantly editing and improving. Handwriting will be mostly joined up and spellings should be mostly accurate in their writing in all subjects. Children's mathematical knowledge and skills of the 4 operations should be confident, including number facts and place value, decimal place and all times tables up to 12 x table should be learnt by the end of Year 4.

Year 5/6 In Years 5 and 6 children are consolidating their knowledge and skills and becoming increasingly confident and independent in their learning. They are able to pronounce and understanding unfamiliar words they come across in various text and children are able to write down their ideas quickly with good use of punctuation and grammar. Children are also getting use to expressing their opinions and speaking aloud clearly with confidence. In Maths children are making connections between fractions, decimals and percentages. They are using their knowledge of times tables confidently to solve word problems and increasingly using written methods to explain their understanding. Additionally, they are able to read, spell and pronounce all Mathematical vocabulary.

I offer either a 40 or 50 minute tutoring session to include any of the following aspects of learning: listening to children read and offering support and guidance in how to improve reading and understanding of unfamiliar words, reading novels and answering comprehension style questions, improving cursive handwriting and sentence structure, spelling strategies including Common Exception Words, writing stories, editing and improving and developing grammar!
